Following the release of the first images from the movie we now have the first full trailer for director Matt Reeves’ latest film War for the Planet of the Apes. Andy Serkis is back as the conflicted general Caesar, and following the devastating events of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes we’re standing on a precipice in this new film.

Woody Harrelson appears the film’s antagonist, the relentless Colonel with Steve Zahn, Judy Greer, Karin Konoval, Amiah Miller and the wonderful Terry Notary returning.

We’ve come a long way from the events of Rise…, with John Lithgow and James Franco living out the last days of the human race in relative calm while all around them the seeds of destruction were planted. The second film in the new trilogy took the harrowing battle for conquest and survival to a new, more intimate extreme.

The emotional core of the film, so important to the series’ revival in Rise, was alive and well in the connection between Serkis’ Caesar and Jason Clarke’s Malcolm. The fight to live on, and to simply survive became all important. It’ll be very interesting to see where Serkis and Co. take the fight to next.

War for the Planet of the Apes is released in cinemas on the 14th of July, 2017. Here’s the new trailer.
