It’s been a great couple of years for Walton Goggins after breakout roles in the likes of The Hateful Eight and Vice Principals, but the Justified alum is now setting his sights on another villainous role. According to Variety, he’s in final talks to play the Tomb Raider reboot’s big bad. Character details are being kept under wraps, but this is still a great bit of casting.

Alicia Vikander is playing Lara Croft, while Roar Uthaug is set to direct the movie which is currently set to be released on March 16th 2018. The project has been in the works for years now, but as you can see in the video below, this version is going to be based on the newer instalments in the video game franchise and will put the focus on the hero’s missing father.

Right now, all eyes are on Assassin’s Creed to be the first great video game adaptation, but Tomb Raider is completely unrelated to that, so it will happen regardless. However, should that fail to live up to expectations, you’d best believe that all eyes will be on this movie.

It’s going to be a while before the cameras start rolling on this one, but expect more casting news to follow over the next couple of months. For now though, we can at least look forward to seeing Tomb Raider going toe to toe with the always downright amazing Walton Goggins!
