2017 sees Luc Besson return to the world of sci-fi with the wonderfully named Valérian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
Based on the comic book series Valérian and Laureline from the minds of writer Pierre Christin and illustrator Jean-Claude Mézières, Besson’s film has Dane Dehaan and Cara Delevingne as time-travelling agents protecting humanity.
It sounds bold, is certain have a beautiful aesthetic quality to it, and Besson’s The Fifth Element is packed full of great ideas and beautiful images. Back to the moon Monsieur Besson says we!
Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke, Rihanna and the voice of John Goodman appear as well, so there’s a solid cast. The film is out on the 21st of July next year.
