Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance appears to have another winner in his hands with crime drama The Place Beyond the Pines (read our review from TIFF here).
Having sparked a minor bidding war at the Toronto International Film Festival (with Focus Features finally acquiring the film) it features the intriguing pairing of Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper as a professional motorcycle rider turned bank robber and a rookie police officer, respectively.
The first clip below (via Collider) features another co-star (Animal Kingdom and Killing Them Softly’s Ben Mendelsohn) planning a bank robbery with an unusually grungy-looking Gosling, while the second has Cooper’s character being questioned in a hospital bed by Bruce Greenwood.
Fans of Cianfrance’s aforementioned debut (which also starred Gosling) will undoubtedly be eager to see what the two have come up with here, and we’ll keep you posted when a UK distributor has been found (which, judging by the buzz at Toronto, won’t be too far in the future).
