It was revealed recently that Paramount Pictures have assembled a team of writers (including The Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman) to come up with a new series of Transformers movies and spinoffs. Looking to follow in the successful footsteps of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, the studio clearly has big plans for this world.

Now, two more scribes have been added to the team in the form of Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari. They did production re-writes on Ant-Man before Paul Rudd and Adam McKay took over when Edgar Wright departed the project. Akiva Goldsman is leading the group of writers who were assembled by Transformers producers Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura to further expand the franchise.

According to Deadline, one of the potential movies in development in Transformers One, a prequel which would be set on the planet Cybertron. Many fans have been hoping to see that planet on the big screen for some time now, but disappointingly, it sounds like Hasbro and the studio are considering making this a fully animated feature. That’s unconfirmed at this point though, so we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.

Michael Bay is still expected to return for Transformers 5 (despite claiming that he’s finished with the franchise), as is star Mark Wahlberg. There have even been rumours that The Rock might show up too!
