Transformers-4-Bugatti-Grand-Sport-VitessePrincipal photography on the as-yet-untitled Transformers 4 is now officially underway across the Atlantic, and Michael Bay has taken the opportunity to share a few stills of some of the awesome vehicles we can look forward to seeing next summer.

First up comes a glimpse at the revamped Optimus Prime, who looks like even more of a muscle machine than he has in the past. As Bay notes on his website, he’s been completely upgraded and custom-built by Western Star. And he looks more than a little bit awesome.

And then things get very interesting, with two incredibly snazzy cars riding in. First of the two is the Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse, a 1,200-horsepower vehicle Bay notes is worth more than .4m. And it’s swiftly followed by a special race-inspired C7 Corvette Stingray, based on Chevrolet’s 2014 production car.

So we’ve got some pretty fine machinery hitting the multiplex next summer.

As of yet, Bay hasn’t revealed the Autobots who’ll be taking the shape of these new cars, and whether or not they’ll be new creations specifically for Transformers 4. So for now, all we have to enjoy is the fact that they look awesome in their car mode, and are bound to look immense in their Autobot form. (Especially that Bugatti.)

Bay has assembled an awesome new cast for the next step in the franchise. Mark Wahlberg was the first to come on board, having worked with the director on Pain and Gain. And he’s since been joined for the sequel by Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Kelsey Grammer, Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing, and T.J. Miller.

Bay is set to direct from a script he’s been developing with Ehren Kruger, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what the two will bring to the table, following what was set to be the end of the franchise (at least under Bay’s direction) in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Transformers 4 is slated for release on June 27th, 2014, and is pretty much guaranteed to be one of the biggest films of next year.
