Twenty years after Danny Boyle brought Irvine Welsh’s drug-soaked opus Trainspotting to the big screen he has reunited with the original cast from his seminal work for an eagerly-anticipated sequel. And from the looks of it those two decades haven’t been kind to our old friends.

Ewan McGregor returns as Renton, Ewen Bremner is an older, odder Spud, Robert Carlyle looks to have carried around Begbie in his pocket for the last twenty years and Johnny Lee Miller’s bleach-blonde Sick Boy (now Sick Man?) looks as addled as ever. It’s good to be back.

The film enters UK cinemas on the 27th of January, 2017. Here’s the new trailer – ready to jump back on board? Scroll down for the poster and images.

Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle). Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.
