The news that Fantastic Four star Jamie Bell has met with James Bond producers to take over from Daniel Craig hasn’t been met with the most positive of responses, but now fan-favourite choice Tom Hiddleston (Thor, The Night Manager) is said to be in “advanced” talks.

This should strictly be taken as a rumour for now as the news doesn’t come from one of the trades, but sources close to the British actor have reportedly said that Hiddleston wants the role, so MGM would obviously be smart to make this happen, especially as their current leading man Daniel Craig has said he’d rather slash his wrists than return to the franchise.

We Discuss who could play the Next Bond

At 6’2 and with a physique which saw him come close to landing the role of Thor before Chris Hemsworth was chosen, Hiddleston certainly looks the part, and it was his starring role in The Night Manager on BBC which has left pretty much everyone convinced that he’s perfect to take over as 007. Either way, it definitely looks like Craig won’t be back.

After the actor sleepwalked through Spectre, that’s not a bad thing in all honesty, and with Sony and Warner Bros. competing for the rights to James Bond, we’ll hopefully hear something soon. It’s hard to imagine this franchise being left on the shelf for too long…
