It was revealed earlier this month that hot off the success of American Sniper, Clint Eastwood will be helming another story of an American hero. That’s a currently untitled movie revolving around Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot who successfully landed a plane in the Hudson River in 2009.

He saved the lives of everyone on board by avoiding that disastrous crash, and now Tom Hank is in talks to play Sully in a movie which will delve not only into that fateful day, but also other areas of his life.

That’s thanks to Sully’s memoir, Highest Duty: My Search For What Really Matters, a book which it’s been said captured all the behind the scenes drama “that could have cost him his reputation and his wings.”

This is a solid bit of casting, and one Hanks is well suited to after taking on a similarly heroic role as an everyman of sorts in Captain Phillips. Eastwood sometimes comes under fire from critics for his style of filmmaking, but America Sniper ended up being a massive hit, so he can really do anything he likes now!

There’s no word on a release date for this movie yet though, so be sure to stay tuned for further updates.
