Three clips from the directorial debut of British comic Richard Ayoade (Moss from The IT Crowd) have emerged online via Twitch.

Submarine is a quirky comedy about a 15-year-old boy named Oliver Tate (Craig Roberts) who is both desperate to lose his virginity before his next birthday and intent on stopping his mother from leaving his father for her dance teacher.

The clips have a Wes Anderson flavour to them, although I’m sure Ayoade (a veteran of numerous award-winning music promo) will bring his own distinctive style to the film.

Produced by Ben Stiller’s company, Red Hour Productions, the film was recently bought by the Weinstein Company after a late night bidding war at the Toronto Film Festival.

There’s no UK release date at yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear of one. Meanwhile, check out the clips below. Noah Taylor (playing Tate’s father) who features in the third clip, is particularly amusing.
