I just slipped an ace up their sleeve

It is no trade secret that THQ is in trouble right now.  Studio closures, massive layoffs and the threat of being delisted from the stock exchange have put THQ on notice and they need to do something soon to stay in the game.  Just doing something normal will not save the company from the brink of administration.  Something crazy but profitable must be done and boy do I have just the idea for them, one game to rule them all (for you curious folk, not LOTR related).

What is one of, if not the most popular trend in gaming?  Most of you will think of First Person Shooters and that is fine, but the one I am thinking of is HD Collections.  Everyone and their mothers are putting out some sort of compilation these days, but they are usually a series of some sort.  On a rare occasion you will get something cool like the Genesis Collection or some arcade compilation, but what if some company *cough THQ* did a genre collection.  Again we have seen genre collections, but nothing like what I am about to propose.  THQ has something in their clutches and that something is the WWE license.  THQ’s annual wrestling title usually bumps up those quarterly earnings, so we know that wrestling titles are still popular and make some dough.  So what comes with the WWE license?  One would assume anything that the WWE owns and or has included with the license to THQ.  That is all fine and dandy, but what am I getting at?  I am alluding to what could be the greatest game in the history of gaming, a THQ Wrestling Collection.

Tell me with a straight face you wouldn't buy this, but please don't

This game, if done right, would sell gangbusters.  So the next logical question is what should this THQ Wrestling Collection include?

THQ Wrestling Collection selection

  • WCW vs. NWO Revenge
  • WWF Wrestlemania 2000
  • WWF No Mercy

These three games not only defined a generation, but are still to this day the quintessential wrestling titles that every wrestling fan defaults to.  These games were damn near perfect by design and many years later are still more enjoyable than contemporary wrestling games.  This list could include much more, but quality over quantity is what could propel this title to the top of the charts.

The THQ Wrestling Collection needs to be priced reasonably.  I am thinking for 3 games even of their caliber should retail for no more than $40 (£24).  Give the games a small coat of HD paint, make them run in 16×9 and for the love of god do not alter the controls.  Throw in online multiplayer and Achievement/Trophy support and trust me even GAME will have trouble keeping this title in stock.

THQ if you are reading this; steal it and steal it quick.  You just have to trust me on this, it will make you lots of money.  The next time I write about this I want to be writing a review, so hop to it.  In the meantime watch some Revenge goodness below.
