Thor:-The-Dark-World-Poster-Jane-FosterThor: The Dark World is just weeks away from hitting the big screen, and the anticipation has naturally been rising in recent months.

Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 was a brilliant start to Phase Two for Marvel, and Alan Taylor’s next entry in the studio’s Cinematic Universe is sure to be a lot of fun too.

Following the extended trailer that landed online this week, teasing snippets of new footage, Marvel has released a new character poster for Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, via Pop Sugar, along with releasing a character poster for Jaimie Alexander’s Sif hitting the battlefield.

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Chris Hemsworth is of course front and centre once more as the eponymous Thor, with Portman and Alexander heading up another stellar ensemble, alongside Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Tadanobu Asano, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Chris O’Dowd, and Rene Russo.

Taylor (Game of Thrones) is directing from a script penned by the studio’s go-to scribes, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: The First Avenger), who co-wrote it with Christopher Yost (The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes).

Thor: The Dark World will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 30th October here in the UK, with its US release date following on November 8th.
