Thor-The-Dark-World-PosterWith the first trailer set to drop next week, Marvel have debuted the first poster for their anticipated Thor: The Dark World.

Arriving in cinemas towards the end of the year, the blockbuster is the second instalment in Marvel’s anticipated Phase Two, which kicks off with Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 next week.

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World,” in theaters November 8, 2013, continues the big screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself.

In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos… but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Chris Hemsworth is back in the titular role, leading another stellar cast, led by Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Tadanobu Asano, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Chris O’Dowd, Rene Russo, and Anthony Hopkins.

Taylor is directing from a script Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Christopher Yost (The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes), with Yost making his feature debut here.

Thor: The Dark World will be released in 3D on November 8th in the US, with its UK release date currently slated for 30th October. The sequel falls directly between Iron Man 3 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and we can’t wait for it to land. It’s going to be awesome. For now, here’s the first poster to set the tone nicely. And be sure to come back for when the first trailer hits.

Since graduating, I spend as much time as possible watching films/TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. So getting to write about what I love is nothing short of awesome. Biggest film-related hope for 2014/ever: Guy Ritchie announcing the RocknRolla sequel is finally moving forward.
