Last year, we found out that Disney and Lucasfilm were looking at upwards of 2500 actors for the role of the young Han Solo, but now a shortlist has emerged which reveals who the studios have narrowed their choices down to. It’s a very interesting selection of names, and all of them arguably have qualities which make them right to take on such an iconic role.

Those are Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Emory Cohen, and Blake Jenner, though there’s said to be a dozen under consideration in total. Test deals are currently being worked out, but it’s thought that Kathleen Kennedy and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will decide in the next few weeks.

Seeing as this Star Wars spinoff doesn’t start shooting until this time next year, you’re no doubt wondering why they’re looking to cast the new Han Solo so soon. Well, here’s where things get exciting. There’s apparently a plan in place for the character to make a small cameo appearance in the Gareth Edwards helmed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

That would be an interesting way to introduce the character and isn’t all that different to what Marvel has done with Spider-Man by putting him in Captain America: Civil War before his own solo outing next year. The  Han Solo spinoff is currently set to be released on May 25th, 2018, and while opinions have been split on whether it’s necessary, it’s happening!
