The-Worlds-End-UK-Quad-PosterEdgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost are once more reuniting to bring us the incredibly anticipated final instalment in the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, The World’s End.

The summer blockbuster brings us the long-awaited conclusion following Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, and all that we’ve seen so far suggests things are going to go out on a high.

In the past few weeks, we’ve seen a brilliant full-length trailer and a great set of character posters. And now Universal have released a new featurette, bringing us up to speed on all things Cornetto.

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

Starring alongside Pegg and Frost is another excellent cast, led by Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan, and Rosamund Pike.

Wright is directing from a script he co-wrote with Pegg, with past collaborators Nira Park (Scott Pilgrim, Shaun of the Dead) and Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner (Shaun of the Dead, Les Misérables) producing.

The World’s End will be released in the UK on 19th July, with its US release date set for a few weeks down the line on August 23rd. And for those of you who like a good movie marathon, there will be a special Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy screening across select Vue cinemas on the night of July 18th, with the final film debuting at midnight.
