A couple of months ago, it was revealed that Paramount Pictures, Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura had turned to Akiva Goldsman to come up with ideas to continue the main Transformers series and further expand the franchise by launching a number of spinoff movies.

A writers room has now been put together, and it’s fair to say that it’s a pretty interesting mixture of talent.

No doubt the most exciting addition is The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. He writes the comic book series and has contributed in a huge way to the TV show, so his project is no doubt the most exciting.

Joining him will be Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk), and Jeff Pinkner (Lost). There’s no word on who will be writing what or how this writers room is going to work, but more are expected to be added soon. Cinematic Universes have become all the rage thanks to Marvel Studios, so it’s not really a surprise that Paramount is trying to imitate that with the Transformers franchise.

After all, the Transformers movies have all been hugely successful at the box office (though not with critics), so the studio has the chance to make an awful lot of money here, and Kirkman being in their corner is smart!
