Aubrey-Plaza-and-Rachel-Bilson-in-The-To-Do-ListHitting US cinemas in the height of summer, The To Do List is definitely shaping up to be one of the funniest films of the year.

The comedy sees Aubrey Plaza take the lead at the top of an absolutely terrific cast. Originally slated for release back in February, the film saw its release date do a little shuffle for a more prominent summer slot. And now Yahoo Movies have released a hilarious new red-band trailer, which very much earns its restricted rating.

Set in 1993, valedictorian Brandy Klark wants to shed her uptight image before college, so she assembles a to do list of all the “activities” she missed out on in high school. Quickly realizing that she’s way out of her depth, Brandy solicits her best friends, older sister and burnt-out boss for their help and advice. If the group is going to complete the list by September they’ll need plenty of imagination and very open minds.

Plaza is joined by Bill Hader, Alia Shawkat, Rachel Bilson, Andy Samberg, Scott Porter, Connie Britton, Clark Gregg, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Donald Glover, Johnny Simmons, and Sarah Steele. And that cast alone is guaranteed to bring some of the biggest laughs of the year.

Maggie Carey is making her feature debut behind the camera, directing from her own script. Carey jointly won the Audience Award at SXSW for her 2001 documentary, Ladyporn, and I can’t wait to see what she does with a narrative feature.

The To Do List is set to be released in the US on July 26th, and has its UK release date set for a few months later on 4th October. This is going to be awesome.
