Gravity-Poster

One of the riches sources of film production information on the internet is The Soundworks Collection who interview directors and sound designers, focusing solely on the often overlooked aspect of our cinematic aural pleasure.

The film in question this time is Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity which has just opened in the US to an incredible reception and is playing here in London as a Gala screening of the LFF. Cuarón’s films have incredible evocative soundscapes and Children of Men in particular with its rattling cages, military thunder and unrelenting sense of threat is just one great example of how the director uses sound to complete the film.

The director is joined by Re-recording Mixer Skip Lievsay and a host of behind the scenes images and clips from the film. You might want to go into this film as unspoiled as possible, in which case bookmark this page because you’ll want to see it afterwards, but it’s a fascinating look at the film everyone is talking about.
