With awards season well underway, Last night saw the stars of Film and TV throw on their posh frocks to strut down the red carpet of The Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards 2017), the awards in which their fellow peers give each other a huge pat on the back for their outstanding work.

Predictably and well deservingly so, Emma Stone and Viola Davis walked away with SAG Awards as well as Denzel Washington for Fences  – who is famously known for being the most nominated actor to never actually having won a SAG before, beating Casey Affleck’s performance in Manchester By The Sea. Claire Foy and John Lithgow also won awards for the Netflix series, The Crown. Poor old Emma Stone was just slightly overwhelmed with her award; you can watch her speech below.

Also winning big on the night, and surprising all those who thought outstanding performance by a Cast was a foregone conclusion with Manchester By The Sea, was Hidden Figures who, at the moment is storming the US Box office with its reported $100 million made already and the film is not even released in the UK until February 17th.

The evening saw a whole host of winners take to the stage in a united front against the hideous actions of newly sworn-in US President, Donald Trump, with impassioned speeches of solidarity, none more so than Netflix’s Stranger Things star David Harbour, who, along with the cast, took to the stage to accept the award for Best Drama Series. Watch his rousing speech below; we sure felt a glimmer of hope after watching this.
