Almost twenty years on from the inauguration of Dogme 95 Danish director Kristian Levring took his tale of revenge in the American West to Cannes in 2014. It played well, and the collision of cultures seemed an apt place to debut this film.
Mads Mikkelsen’s journey through this film is a hard one, his character is bound by terrible circumstance to a vengeful fate, taken to the very edge of his despair while being hunted for the grisly outcome of his grief. Mikkelsen is always a fine presence on screen, Eva Green and Jeffrey Dean Morgan join him.
