The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be returning us to the world of The Capitol once more this November, and naturally the anticipation is riding on high. The Hunger Games took almost $700m. around the world last year, and the odds are good that the Jennifer Lawrence-led blockbuster will be another big hit at the end of the year.
After seeing the first two ‘Victory Tour’ posters late last month, we were treated to the first ‘Capitol Couture’ poster last night, giving us a look at Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket. And now Fandango have debuted the next poster in the series, showing off Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman.
“THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.”
Jennifer Lawrence is joined by another terrific ensemble, starring alongside Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Banks, Tucci, Jena Malone, Sam Claflin, Woody Harrelson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Willow Shields, and Donald Sutherland.
Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) is directing from a screenplay first written by the Oscar-winning Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours), with Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Star Wars Episode VII) hired for a rewrite, adapting the original novel by Suzanne Collins.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be released on 22nd November in the UK and US, and is currently the only major film opening that weekend, which will hopefully help propel it to even further heights at the box office.
