Francis Lawrence’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is undoubtedly set to be one of the biggest films of the year. The blockbuster sequel is the first follow-up to last year’s success story, The Hunger Games. And with a further two films down the line, it’s likely to be one of the biggest franchises in recent memory.
We saw two new ‘Victory Tour’ posters surface late last month. And now the first ‘Capitol Couture’ poster has been released for Catching Fire, giving us a look at Elizabeth Banks reprising her role as Effie Trinket.
“THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.”
Jennifer Lawrence has of course returned in her leading role as Katniss Everdeen. And starring alongside her will be another brilliant ensemble, led by Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Banks, Stanley Tucci, Jena Malone, Sam Claflin, Woody Harrelson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Willow Shields, and Donald Sutherland.
Lawrence (I Am Legend) is directing from a screenplay first written by the Oscar-winning Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours), with Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Star Wars Episode VII) hired for a rewrite, adapting the original novel by Suzanne Collins.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has its release date set for 22nd November in the UK and US, and you can place early predictions that it will be topping the box office, quite possibly for weeks following its debut.
