The First Trailer & Images Land for Despicable Me 2

Despicable Me 2

Despicable Me 2Due out in the height of Summer 2013, Despicable Me 2 is destined to be one of my favourite films of next year. The first film was one of the best animated films in recent memory, and I can’t wait for Gru to return.

We caught a great little teaser trailer earlier in the year, and now the first trailer has officially dropped over at Apple, and it’s naturally pretty brilliant.

“Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s worldwide blockbuster, Despicable Me, delighted audiences around the globe in 2010, grossing more than $540 million and becoming the 10th-biggest animated motion picture in U.S. history. In Summer 2013, get ready for more minion madness in Despicable Me 2. Chris Meledandri and his acclaimed filmmaking team create an all-new comedy animated adventure featuring the return of Gru (Steve Carell), the girls, the unpredictably hilarious minions…and a host of new and outrageously funny characters.”

Steve Carell is back at the head of the terrific voice cast, and will be joined by Kristen Wiig, Russell Brand, Al Pacino, and Steve Coogan, along with Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier, and Elsie Kate Fisher returning as the adorable little kids.

Co-directors Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud return behind the camera, directing from a script by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul.

Despicable Me 2 will be heading into UK theatres on 28th June, 2013, before heading across the Atlantic for a 3rd July release in the US. I can’t wait. For now, here’s the brilliant first trailer, followed by a handful of images, which you can click to enlarge. Enjoy.

Since graduating, I spend as much time as possible watching films/TV shows, reading books, and listening to music. So getting to write about what I love is nothing short of awesome. Biggest film-related hope for 2014/ever: Guy Ritchie announcing the RocknRolla sequel is finally moving forward.
