Jamie Dornan has been making headlines recently for his raunchy role in Fifty Shades of Grey (it’s been reported that he and co-star Dakota Johnson are demanding a huge pay increase for the sequels after the success of the first movie), but his best performance to date has come in brilliant BBC drama The Fall.

Following the first two seasons (both of which were well-received by viewers and critics alike), the BBC has given the greenlight to a five episode third season which will bring back stars Hannibal’s Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan due back as Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson and serial killer Paul Spector.

Season two of The Fall ended on a cliffhanger, so news of its return should come as a huge relief. The BBC Two series averaged 3.3 millions viewers, making it one of the UK’s highest performing dramas of 2014.

Creator, writer, and director Allan Cubitt thanked BBC executives Kim Shillinglaw, Ben Stephenson and Stephen Wright in a statement released late yesterday, noting that season two’s cliffhanger ending, “was conceived in the hope of further exploring the characters and the themes that are at the heart of The Fall.”
