There have been rumblings of a third superhero TV show on The CW for quite some time now, with The Atom (Brandon Routh) named as a possible candidate to lead such a series. Well, Routh will be involved, but so will a number of new and returning characters who have appeared on both Arrow and The Flash!

According to a new report, the spinoff is being developed by Arrow creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim, and among those expected to star are the former Superman turn Atom, along with Victor Garber (one half of Firestorm), Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold), and Caity Lotz (The Canary).

That’s obviously a very varied group of characters (especially as Lotz’s character was killed off at the beginning of Arrow’s third season), and the series is being described as “a superhero team-up show”.

Things are said to still be in the very early stages of development, but the site adds that “the new project will include three major DC Comics characters who have never appeared in a TV series.” That’s intriguing!

It’s likely that the series would debut next January or summer, and it would nicely fill the gap between the finales and premieres of Arrow and The Flash. It also gives The CW the opportunity to flesh out some of the supporting cast and give these fan-favourite characters the kind of screen time that fans have demanded.
