The-Counselor-Poster-Cameron-DiazCameron Diaz has played a variety of characters over the years, ranging from action heroine in the likes of Charlie’s Angels and Knight and Day to showing off her comedy chops in There’s Something About Mary and Bad Teacher, with more dramatic affairs like My Sister’s Keeper along the way. One character she’s yet to really portray is the femme fatale, but it looks like that’s all going to change soon with the arrival of Ridley Scott’s The Counselor.

The film has long been on the radar as a must-see movie of the year, and the footage that has surfaced so far has certainly confirmed that status.

Little is known in terms of plot, which makes things all the more intriguing. Following the recent release of a new set of posters, Fox have launched a new clip over on Yahoo Movies, teasing an interesting dynamic between Diaz and Javier Bardem’s on-screen characters.

Legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott and Pulitzer Prize winning author Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men) have joined forces in the motion picture thriller THE COUNSELOR, starring Michael Fassbender, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem, and Brad Pitt. McCarthy, making his screenwriting debut and Scott interweave the author’s characteristic wit and dark humor with a nightmarish scenario, in which a respected lawyer’s one-time dalliance with an illegal business deal spirals out of control.

Michael Fassbender stars as the eponymous and as-yet-unnamed counsellor – the film will be titled ‘The Counsellor’ here in the UK – and he, Diaz, and Bardem are joined by Penélope Cruz and Brad Pitt, making for a very promising leading quintet.

Scott is directing from a script penned by the Pulitzer Prize-winning Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men), who makes his screenwriting debut with the film.

The Counselor will be released in the US on October 25th, with its UK release date set for a few weeks later on 15th November.
