The-Bay-PosterDebuting at TIFF last year, Barry Levinson’s The Bay has been earning excellent early reviews on the festival circuit and its limited US release in the past few months.

Momentum have done us all a favour by picking it up for distribution here in the UK, and with its release coming in just over a month’s time in March, they’ve put out a new trailer for our shores.

“The quaint coastal town of Claridge, Maryland thrives on the safe, tranquil and abundant waters of Chesapeake Bay. During their annual Independence Day celebrations, a gruesome plague is unleashed, quickly infecting the residents and turning them against each other.

A brutal and harrowing creature feature for the 21st century, “The Bay” graphically chronicles the descent of a small town into absolute terror.”

Rising young star Kristen Connolly (The Cabin in the Woods) is joined by Christopher Denham (Sound of My Voice), Kether Donohue (Pitch Perfect), and Jane McNeill (The Walking Dead).

Levinson (Rain Man, Sleepers) is directing from a script by Michael Wallach, who makes his feature debut here as a writer.

And working on the film behind the scenes are genre-renowned producers Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Sinister), Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity, Insidious), and Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity, Chernobyl Diaries).

The Bay will be released in theatres in the UK on 1st March. In the US, it’s currently available through VOD, and will be released on DVD on 5th March. For now, here’s the UK trailer to get you in the mood. Enjoy.
