Rovio’s money-spinning mobile game may not be the ubiquitous flapper it once was but you can’t deny that most people know the name Angry Birds.

And using the logic that knowledge = piles of cash there’s an inevitability about The Angry Birds Movie, which is due out on the 13th of May. A new trailer has arrived and it opens up the Grumpy Avian world a little, promising lots of knowing humour and slapstick. Joy unbound.

Directed by Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly The Angry Birds Movie stars Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon, Tony Hale, Keegan-Michael Key, Bill Hader, and Peter Dinklage. And with a cast like that you can only imagine the money Sony are ploughing into this one.

Here’s the trailer…

Synopsis hit? Game on!

In the 3D animated comedy, The Angry Birds Movie, we’ll finally find out why the birds are so angry.

The movie takes us to an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds – or almost entirely. In this paradise, Red (Jason Sudeikis, We’re the Millers, Horrible Bosses), a bird with a temper problem, speedy Chuck (Josh Gad in his first animated rolesince Frozen), and the volatile Bomb (Danny McBride, This is the End, Eastbound and Down) have always been outsiders. But when the island is visited by mysterious green piggies, it’s up to these unlikely outcasts to figure out what the pigs are up to.
