The cast of Han Solo continues to grow, with Westworld star Thandie Newton in talks to join the impressive ensemble. As per usual, there’s sadly no word on who she will be playing, and with the Expanded Universe no longer canon, we can’t even look there for any major clues.

This is a great bit of casting, though, and Newton is riding high after her recent stint in the HBO series mentioned above. Next up for her is Xavier Dolan’s The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, while season two of Westworld also begins shooting later this year. Han Solo will be squeezed in somewhere, but this doesn’t necessarily reveal the significance of her role.

With Disney shifting the focus to Star Wars: The Last Jedi in April to coincide with this year’s Celebration, chances are that it will be a very long time until we see anything official from Han Solo. However, the start of production was actually released online not too long ago.

She now joins a cast which includes Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson as Han’s mentor, Emilia Clarke, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing, while Han Solo is set to be released on May 25, 2018.
