Next July will see the release of Terminator: Genisys, a reboot for the franchise from Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor. It also appears to be a loose sequel to the previous movies as Arnold Schwarzenegger plays an aged version of the T-800 and a number of actors fill in key roles like Sarah Connor.

She’ll be played by Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, while Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) has been cast as John Connor and Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard) will be Kyle Reese.

As you can tell, it appears as if Terminator: Genisys will feature a fair bit of time travel!

It was reported early on that the plan was for this movie to kick off a new franchise, and Paramount confirmed this late last night by announcing the release dates of a second and third movie.

Neither have a title as of yet (though it’s hard to imagine them being any stranger than the oddly spelled “Genisys”), but Terminator 2 will be released on May 19th, 2017, with Terminator 3 set for June 29th, 2018. The fact that they’re coming out in such quick succession is likely a sign that they will be shot back to back, but there’s currently no word on whether Taylor will direct or the involvement of the cast.
