TerminatorDue to be released in Summer 2015, the anticipated Terminator reboot has been on the cards for a good few years, and now it looks like it’s finally coming together nicely.

Following last month’s news about actresses testing for the role of Sarah Connor, Production Weekly’s Twitter has revealed that the title for the fifth instalment in the franchise is set to be Terminator: Genesis.

The reboot is set to be a time-spanning story that sees Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising his role as the eponymous Terminator, tasked with protecting Sarah Connor as she grows up. So, naturally, ‘Genesis’ seems like a very appropriate subtitle.

Brie Larson (Short Term 12), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), and Margot Robbie (About Time) were reportedly amongst those testing for the role of Sarah Connor, with Garrett Hedlund’s name thought to be on the short list for the part of Kyle Reese.

Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones) will be helming the reboot, which if all goes well, will be the first in a new trilogy.

Skydance and Annapurna Pictures have also recently announced that Terminator will be returning to the small screen, with Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller writing and executive producing a new series that will work as a companion to the upcoming movie.

Stentz and Miller previously worked on the brilliant and short-lived Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, so it’s going to be exciting to see them shepherding a new series, expected to focus on a critical moment from the original 1984 movie, taking things in a different direction to how they first happened.
