Supergirl has found its Man of Steel, so Henry Cavill now has some competition for who the best live-action Superman is! Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin will be suiting up as the iconic DC Comics superhero in the first two episodes of The CW series, and with any luck, he’s going to end up having a recurring presence in the series (and that four night DC TV crossover too).
“Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said today. “We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”
Superman has made a handful of blink and you’ll miss them appearances in Supergirl, but we’ve only seen his cape, feet, or hands, so this will mark be the first time he’s had a significant presence in the series which recently made the move from CBS to The CW.
Hoechlin’s other credits include Road To Perdition, Hall Pass, Solstice, and Everybody Wants Some, so he’s far from a newcomer. We’ll get to see him in action for the first time when Supergirl returns in the Autumn, so expect more details on his role in the coming months!
