We know that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will star in the highly anticipated second season of True Detective, but HBO have tonight officially announced the rest of the main cast members in the crime drama.

They are Taylor Kitsch, Rachel McAdams, and Kelly Reilly, and details on who they’re playing have also been announced. For those of you that may not have heard, the season two of True Detective will focus on three police officers and a career criminal navigating a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.

Character details for each of the new cast members were also released, and you can check them out below.

  • Rachel McAdams as Ani Bezzerides: a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.
  • Taylor Kitsch as Paul Woodrugh: a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.
  • Kelly Reilly as Jordan: Frank Semyon’s wife, a former D-list actress who is a full partner in his enterprises and ambitions.

It was previously revealed that Colin Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him. Vince Vaughn meanwhile is set to play Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.

Fast & Furious director Justin Lin is expected to direct the first two episodes of True Detective, with more announcements expected to follow. Last year, Cary Fukunaga all eight instalments of the crime drama.
