It’s been a great week for Suicide Squad news thanks to Empire, especially after two lots of covers focusing on Deadshot and Harley Quinn and The Joker and Enchantress. Now, a new batch of images have been released from the David Ayer helmed DC Comics adaptation which offer up a very exciting look at the villainous characters who make up Task Force X.

A few of these stills make look familiar as we saw scanned versions back on Monday, but these are all in wonderful high resolution, and there are some cool new ones to go with those which may be familiar. Those include new looks at Killer Croc, Katana, and Boomerang among others, not to mention an awesome group shot of these baddies ready for action.

Talking to Empire, Suicide Squad director David Ayer offered some insight into how this movie differs from others. “You know, all these movies are about defeating the evil alien robot from f*cking Planet X, before it destroys the world with its ticking clock. And who the f*ck cares? But you do this story about struggle and isolation and people who have been shit on that suddenly get thrown this lifeline. I like to think of this as the Comic Book Movie 2.0”

That’s a very interesting approach, and regardless of whether or not Suicide Squad reinvents the genre, it certainly looks like the most unique “superhero” movie of 2016, that’s for sure!
