Netflix have shown a shrewd propensity for signing up the type of Indie fare which would have previously found a home in the big studio’s independent arms.

With Paul Rudd, Craig Roberts and Selena Gomez appearing in The Fundamentals of Caring, released this week on the streaming service, the next film to be snapped up is Talullah, written by Orange is the New Black’s Sian Heder, starring Allison Janney and Ellen Page.

The first trailer has hit, and it seems the sparks which flew in Juno are still apparent with Page and Janney making the most of the character-led drama of Heder’s film.

Here’s a handy synopsis, and the trailer.

Tallulah was written and directed by Sian Heder and tells the story of young vagabond, Lu, who lives in a van and is fiercely independent in her hand-to-mouth existence. When a chance encounter incites her to impulsively “”rescue”” a baby from a negligent mother, Lu, at a loss for what to do, turns to the only responsible adult she knows: Margo, who mistakenly believes she’s the child’s grandmother.
