He’s made many sequels over the years so there’s not harm in adding another one is there with news that Sylvester Stallone is set to return for a sequel to 2013’s Escape Plan.

It may be somewhat of a surprise to hear of a sequel to the action-thriller given that it only grossed $24million int he US. However, overseas the film was somewhat of a success with another $110million added to its total with a sizeable chunk coming from China where the sequel will gain some of its financing.

In the original, Stallone plays Ray, the world’s leading man when it comes to testing the security of modern jails. He agrees to enter the jail and try to break out which more often the case. However, when he enters high-tech, top-secret The Tomb, he discovers his usual job is a ruse and has to utilise the help of fellow inmate Emil, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, to escape.

Miles Chapman, who contributed to the script of the first film, is writing the sequel with many of the original producers also onboard. Stallone will this time take a supporting role, with no word whether Schwarzenegger will be involved.
