There’s been talk of a crossover between Supergirl and The Flash for some time, but the two characters actually meeting has always seemed unlikely, especially as their shows air on different networks. Well, The CW and CBS have been able to come to an agreement, and it’s been confirmed today that the Scarlet Speedster will meet the Girl of Steel this March!

Grant Gustin will show up as The Flash in Supergirl on the 28th, and while plot details have yet to be revealed, chances are that this has something to do with interdimensional travel!

“We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making Supergirl—The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up!,” said The Flash and Supergirl Executive Producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg. “We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone’s enthusiasm and support.”

Requests for Supergirl to cross over with either The Flash or Arrow have been loud and frequent among fans, particularly since the three shows share executive producers.

While Supergirl has yet to be renewed for a second season, it seems likely that CBS will repay the favour and allow Melissa Benoist’s fan-favourite hero to show up in The Flash during the Fastest Man Alive’s third season. We won’t get too ahead of ourselves just yet though as we first have to wait and see how exactly this first crossover is going to work!
