John Wick was a hit earlier this year, grossing nearly $80 million at the box office and an additional $40 million or so from home video sales, all on a budget of only $20 million.

Unsurprisingly then, it was recently revealed that John Wick is getting a sequel, with Keanu Reeves set to reprise the role of the titular assassin. John Wick co-director Chad Stahelski is taking the helm of the sequel as David Leitch has lined up Coldest City with Charlize Theron and James McAvoy, and though plot details are being kept under wraps, we do know that the follow-up isn’t going to kick off with the death of an adorable puppy like the first instalment!

Thanks to a new report, we now know that John Wick 2 has a villain in the form of rapper turned actor Common. He’s so far had fairly minor roles in movies like Selma, Entourage, and the upcoming Suicide Squad (in which he’ll take on the role of Tattooed Man), but he’s expected to the lead villain here as a head of security for a yet to be cast female crime lord.

It’s going to be exciting to see how John Wick 2 develops, especially with only one of the first movie’s directors at the helm. Just seeing the character once again kicking ass and taking names has a lot of promise though, so stay tuned to HeyUGuys for more on the sequel…
