Completing our coverage of WB/DC Comics’ latest big screen comic book bonanza today we present interviews with the cast of Suicide Squad.

David Ayer’s film is very important for the fledgling DCU, with Batman v Superman being an uneven first step to the ultimate Justice League movie. The reviews haven’t been kind, we gave our opinion here and spoke to Ayer here about finding the right tone, as well as the assumed competition between Marvel and DC.

First up today is Jared Leto, who talks about why he wanted the role as The Joker, what reaction he was hoping for from those presents and staying in character and snapping out of The Joker role.

He also talks about how he acts around Harley Quinn and being in love, and finding that distinctive Joker laugh! Hayley Donaghy sat down with the cast.

Next up is Cara Delevingne and Karen Fukuhara talking about their characters, preparing for their roles, and the epic fight sequences in the movie. Also Cara reveals how she felt when she first saw herself as Enchantress.

Karen talks about working on her first movie role, how she got the part and how she brought a sword to her audition. Finally they talk about 21st century women in cinema and how playing these characters on screen is so empowering for women.

Next up are Margot Robbie and Jay Hernandez who talk about they doing their own stunts, and how they started competitions with their stunt double to try and outdo one another.

They talk about the input they had to the look of their characters, how they regret some of their decisions because of the makeup sessions involved in transforming themselves!

They also discuss the potential Hayley Quinn spin-off movie and Margot producing and how people are so keen to see more of Harley Quinn and her positive influence on female characters in lead roles.

Below we have Joel Kinnaman, Will Smith and Jai Courtney. They spend a while talking about how bad Adam Beach (Slipknot) is at air-squats (which Joel does an amazing impression of), Will Smith talks about recording a couple of tracks for the filmwhich he decided weren’t good enough to go into the movie.

The last interview with the cast is with Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje who plays Killer Croc. The actor talks about how he brought soul to the character, how the makeup took 5 hours every day to apply.

They also talk about his how he got into character by listening to a real-life cannibal to get into the mind-set of Killer Croc. and working with Director David Ayer. Finally he talks about working so well with such a positive, diverse ensemble cast and how there are so many strong female characters in Suicide Squad.

 

Finally we have Suicide Squad Executive Producers Charles Roven & Richard Suckle talking about why the DC comic book characters resonate with the audience, working with directors like Zack Snyder and David Ayer, and bringing future big names to future movies.

They also talk about the heritage of Wonder Woman, the fact she’s just celebrated her 75th birthday and how it’s taken such a long time to appear in her own movie on the big screen.

Suicide Squad consists of The Joker, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Enchantress, Killer Croc, Rick Flagg, Captain Boomerang, Diablo, Katana, and Slipknot. It stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Viola Davis, and Ben Affleck as you-know-who.

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Suicide Squad is released on August 5th, 2016.
