In amongst all of the amazing shows coming in 2017, both on network/terrestrial channels and on subscription services, nothing has got us here at HeyUGuys HQ as excited as the return of our favourite show: Stranger Things. As lovers of all things 80s, we immediately fell in love with the series and cannot wait until Halloween when the show returns for its hugely anticipated sophomore series.

We have only seen small glimpses of what is to come, in pictures and in the show’s teaser trailer, but some new info on the show has been revealed in the last few days with the cast speaking to People about what can be expected from the show. While we won’t spoil anything here about the first season, there are many unanswered questions that we hope to get answered and the young members of the cast – Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) and Noah Schnapp (Will) – have said there is much, much more to come from season two.

Wolfhard said:

“I think this season will be a lot more dark. A lot more horror oriented. I think people are going to like it more than the first season… There are going to be some challenges that the characters face that are real. That are disturbing.”

Matarazzo agrees, saying that their friendship with Will is going to change:

“The great thing about this season is you get to see insights into each character on their own. You’re going to see a lot more into the lives of how the characters are coping with what’s been going on… I think they’re all very emotionally scarred. They feel alone, because their best friend [Will] is back and he’s not acting like their best friend anymore. He’s changed.”

Lots to look forward too for sure, and that’s without the cast mentioning anything about the Upside Down, what happens to Eleven and the future of many of the other characters, both old and new.

Stranger Things is currently available to stream on Netflix and co-stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dwyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono and Matthew Modine. Paul Reiser (Aliens) and Sean Astin (The Goonies) join the cast for Season Two, which debuts on Halloween later this year.
