John Wick has been received rave reviews across the pond, but still has only a vague “Spring 2015” release date in the UK. Following its unexpected success, filmmakers Chad Stahelski and David Leitch have revealed that they are now moving ahead with a sequel to the the action thriller which stars Keanu Reeves.

For those of you unfamiliar with the premise of John Wick, it revolves around the titular character – played by Reeves – who goes on a rampage when sadistic mobster kill the puppy that was a last gift from his wife.

“We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original. It’s the matter of story and how much you like the character,” Stahelski revealed in a recent interview. “So we want to make sure we have a story and a character that everybody loves and then we’ll dress it with action that we promise will be awesome.” It’s apparent though that the sequel is still in the very early stages!

As a result, Reeves’ potential involvement isn’t clear, but Leitch seemed confident that their leading man will indeed return. “If we could work with Keanu Reeves for 10 movies you’d have a really cool career.”

The John Wick directors may have another project to tackle before this one though as it was recently revealed that they are being eyed to helm comic book adaptation Cowboy Ninja Viking starring Chris Pratt.
