Magic Mike XXL has begun production, and while he won’t be sitting in the director’s chair, Magic Mike helmer Steven Soderbergh is stepping behind the camera for the sequel to his 2012 movie.

Gregory Jacobs is directing this time and he’s worked with Soderbergh on nearly every single one of his movies. The now retired filmmaker meanwhile will shooting Magic Mike XXL as its cinematographer under the pseudonym Peter Andrews and will go by Mary Ann Bernard to edit the picture.

Earlier this year, Soderbergh explained that, “I want to be there, but I don’t want to be the director. I want to be a part of it. I want to be in the band, but I just don’t want to be the frontman this time.”

Magic Mike was a surprise hit two years ago grossing $167 million worldwide after being made for only $7 million! You can see the image sent out by the director on Twitter below.

Principal photography doesn’t appear to have started yet as this is second-unit shooting, but when it does start, original star Channing Tatum will be joined  by Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello and Alex Pettyfer. Unfortunately, scene-stealer Matthew McConaughey isn’t set to return.

Magic Mike XXL is currently set to be released on July 1st, 2015.
