We already know that Hugh Jackman will be joined by Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in Wolverine 3, while a fan-favourite character from the comics is also rumoured to make her big screen debut in the movie. However, the cast has added two more actors today, and the Marvel Comics adaptation has suddenly become one of 2017’s most intriguing releases.

The Office co-creator Stephen Merchant has joined the cast in a mystery role, and if rumours are to be believed, this will be his second action movie next year after Transformers 5.

Joining him will be fellow British actor Richard E. Grant (Withnail And I), and while his character is also being kept under wraps, it’s thought that he’ll play a mad scientist type.

Narcos star Boyd Holbrook has already landed a villainous role in Wolverine 3, and it sounds like these two could be on his side. Fox are certainly putting together a very interesting ensemble for the movie anyway, and with Jackman claiming that it will be his last appearance as the clawed mutant, the studio obviously wants to make this one special.

Not much is known about the plot either, though the actor has previously hinted that it will be an adaptation of the Old Man Logan storyline. That’s going to be a lot of fun to watch if so!

Directed by The Wolverine’s James Mangold, the movie will be released on March 3rd, 2017.
