Despite the looming tower of Tim Curry’s impeccable performance as Pennywise the new two-movie version of Stephen King’s IT seems very happy to carve out its own particular niche on our expectant hearts. The first trailer broke records and a few pairs of trousers, showing off the increasing terror faced by The Losers Club. The first film in this series focuses on the kids from Derry who face up against a demonic evil under the guise of a clown, the next film will focus on them as adults.

It was a sad day which saw the departure of original director Cary Fukanaga (and his choice for Pennywise, Will Poulter) however the first looks we have at Mama director Andy Muschietti’s take on the spine-chilling tale were very encouraging. Last night the MTV Awards gave us a new peek at the film, with close to a full scene of the kids exploring The Barrens.

Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise is on fine form as the plague of coulrophobes everywhere is looking very nasty indeed and the red balloons are back in full force.

IT

Jaeden Lieberher is Bill Denbrough, our chief Loser in the Loser’s Club, Jeremy Ray Taylor is Ben Hanscombe, Sophia Lillis as Beverly Marsh, the sole female member of the club. Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard was cast by original director Cary Fukunaga as Richie Tozier and remains in the role for this film.

The young cast is complete with Wyatt Oleff as Stanley Uris, Chosen Jacobs as Mike Hanlon, Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie Kaspbrak and Nicholas Hamilton rounding off the cast as the embodiment of everyone’s feared childhood bully – Henry Bowers.

Here’s the look, with some great sound design and a couple of truly terrifying images,
