Star Trek: Discovery was recently pushed from next January to May, and the cast is now quickly beginning to come together. The latest additions to the CBS Seed/Netflix series are Doug Jones (The Strain) and Anthony Rapp (Rent), while Michelle Yeoh has been confirmed.

Character details have also been revealed, and as a result, we know that Jones is set to take on the role of Lt. Saru, a Starfleet Science Officer and a new alien species to the Star Trek universe (considering the fact that he’s taken on alien roles in everything from Hellboy to Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Jones doing the same again here is not a surprise).

Rapp meanwhile will play Lt. Stamets, an astromycologist, fungus expert, and Starfleet Science Officer aboard the Starship Discovery. It’s also been made official that Yeoh will play Captain Georgiou, the Starfleet Captain aboard the Starship Shenzhou. However, Star Trek: Discovery still hasn’t cast its female lead, but CBS is said to be close to finding an actress.

Star Trek: Discovery will not be set in the same timeline as the rebooted movies, and it will feature brand new characters, locations, and ships. Expect more details to be revealed soon.
