Haven’t seen this week’s episode of The Walking Dead? Then stop reading now! Still here? Right, let’s do this. In the latest instalment of the series, Glenn was seemingly killed when the cowardly Nicholas committed suicide and pulled him down into a herd of the undead. It was then that we seemingly saw the character torn apart in a predictably gruesome fashion.

Is he really dead though? A popular fan theory currently doing the rounds is that those were Nicholas’ insides because he landed on top of Glenn, and the gore covering the fan-favourite survivor will have disguised him from the herd. Would The Walking Dead really troll us?

When showrunner Scott M.Gimple was asked whether or not Glenn lives, he wasn’t willing to give anything away, but teased a big twist. “I definitely want viewers to have an emotional experience either way. There are twists and turns, and bad things happen. Ultimately, it’s all part of a bigger story. I hope that the audience will just wait to see the greater story and see how it all plays out. They’re kind of stopping in the middle of the movie, which they have to because there’s a week between the reels. But we’re still in the middle of the movie.”

As for the way the scene played out and the ambiguity it inevitably leads to, The Walking Dead boss added: “It was shot the way it was shot and it was edited the way it was edited and that is always deliberate. I spend a lot of time on these cuts, so take that as you will.”

Another mystery from this week’s episode of The Walking Dead is Rick’s hand. Has he been bitten? Is he finally going to lose it like his comic book counterpart? And most importantly, is is possible to become infected by the blood of a walker getting into a wound? “It’s entirely possible, but we haven’t really gotten into it on the show. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say something definitive: Rick is OK regarding that cut. His hand will survive. There will be a bandage. There will be some ointment involved. But he’s going to walk away from it.”
