We heard a while ago that Batman will have some sort of presence in Suicide Squad, even if it wasn’t necessarily a cameo. The Joker (played by Jared Leto) having a major role obviously means he will be mentioned or reference somehow, but a new report reveals plans for the Caped Crusader in the movie.

Just like in the majority of Batman comic books, the DC Cinematic Universe version of the character will be an urban legend and not a public figure. Apparently, that’s turned him into “some sort of big boogeyman” who is hated by the government, and specifically A.R.G.U.S. and Suicide Squad boss Amanda Waller.

Before the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Joker is apparently the only one in Suicide Squad to have ever met the Dark Knight, and this is a big part of why the villain is so important to Waller.

While it doesn’t sounds like Ben Affleck will make an appearance, there is footage of Batman in action that is featured in the movie, as well as dialogue which indicates that he’s “key to tracking down all ‘the supers.'”

This sounds like a very interesting direction to take things in in Suicide Squad and is a sign that Warner Bros. are serious about establishing a DC Cinematic Universe.
