Spider-Man: Homecoming is a truly spectacular reboot which effortlessly brings the iconic superhero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and makes him a key part of it moving forward. After Sam Raimi dropped the ball with Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man movies proved to be anything but, it’s fair to say that this return to form is long overdue.
With Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige calling the shots, Spider-Man: Homecoming is understandably packed full of references to the comic books and the wider MCU in general. It also sets the stage for what’s to come next both for Peter Parker and The Avengers, and what you’ll find here is an in-depth look at the reboot’s ten greatest Easter Eggs.
Needless to say, MAJOR SPOILERS for Spider-Man: Homecoming follow from this point!
10. Miles Morales
Donald Glover has only a very brief role in Spider-Man: Homecoming but makes quite the impact as Aaron Davis. A good-natured crook who later becomes one of Peter’s closest allies as The Prowler, he also just so happens to be the uncle of Miles Morales in the Ultimate Universe, someone you’ll no doubt know also happens to be another Spider-Man.
Miles will take centre stage in an animated movie set to be released next year, but the fact Aaron mentions his nephew here pretty much confirms that Miles also exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Whether or not he’ll make an actual appearance remains to be seen, but the stage has definitely been set for the other Spider-Man to show up down the line.
