Sony has been struggling when it comes to their live-action endeavours in recent years, while last year’s Sony Hack also did them no favours. Now looking to rebound, they’re working with Marvel on a Spider-Man reboot and have enlisted Paul Feig for a female-led Ghostbusters reboot. However, are you ready for an animated take on the franchise?

Well, after enlisting the always busy Chris Miller and Phil Lord to develop an animated Spider-Man spinoff, the studio is now developing an animated Ghostbusters movie to go with it.

The studio is expected to start meeting with writers soon to hear their pitches, and it’s been suggested that the story is actually going to take place from the point of view of a ghost!

According to The Wrap, “the animated Ghostbusters movie will feature a group of scientists who team up to battle supernatural forces. The story won’t necessarily take place in Manhattan, as supernatural activity is not limited to a single borough in New York City.”

Sony has big plans for the Ghostbusters franchise, with Feig’s movie set to be released on July 15th, 2016, and the Russo Brothers developing a separate movie focusing on a male team which is rumoured to potentially involved Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt. Ivan Reitman will produce those and this animated Ghostbusters movie for Ghost Corps.
