Some-Velvet-Morning-PosterWritten and directed by Neil LaBute (The Shape of Things), Some Velvet Morning will be debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival later this month.

Having spent recent years directing more studio fare like The Wicker Man and Lakeview Terrace, LaBute is returning to his dramatic roots this year. And ahead of the film’s debut at TFF, Vulture have debuted the first, almost-NSFW poster.

Young and beautiful Velvet is enjoying a relaxing morning in her New York brownstone when Fred interrupts. With suitcase in tow, he enters the apartment with great expectation. Not having seen or heard from Fred in nearly four years, Velvet is clearly surprised. As Fred unloads the reason for his resurfacing, the history and nature of their relationship is revealed. The weight of their reconnection becomes clear as tension mounts and their chemistry reaches its climax.

Alice Eve and Stanley Tucci top the cast, with LaBute directing from his own script.

Eve has been deservedly on the rise in recent years, with that rise cemented next month in her starring role in J.J. Abrams’ anticipated Star Trek Into Darkness. Providing she survives whatever events take place in the film, it could be a real game-changer for her career in a sequel/s in the years to come.

Some Velvet Morning will be premiering out in New York towards the end of the month. No word yet on a wide US release date, or when it might arrive on our shores across the Atlantic. But here’s to hoping that it will be coming before the year’s end. Whilst we await the early reactions, here’s the film’s seductive first poster.
